Warped Wing's 10 Ton Oatmeal Stout Brewed in Dayton, Ohio

Warped Wing's 10 Ton Oatmeal Stout Brewed in Dayton, Ohio

10 Ton Oatmeal Stout is named after our famous “10 Ton” crane that sits oh so quietly above our brew house. This robust Oatmeal Stout gives a nod to Dayton's rich history of early manufacturing. Enjoy the creamy hints of coffee, chocolate and vanilla with a faintly bitter finish. IBU: 30. ABV: 7.0%

Beer Review from Beer Advocate

Pours black with a little more than one finger tan head. The foam dies down to a narrow ring around the edges, depositing a few fine swaths of lace where the head rested before dissipating.

Smells of cocoa, lactose, bittersweet roasted malts and a little caramel. Solid.

Taste follows the nose. Roasted malt, cocoa, weak coffee, brown sugar, rolled oats, earth and a hint of alcohol. This is smooth, roasty and easy to drink.

Creamy, smooth medium body with subtlety active carbonation. Finishes with notes of chocolate, roast and faint caramel sweetness.

I'd never even heard of Warped Wing Brewing until this arrived as an extra but 10 Ton is a damn fine oatmeal stout. I'll have to keep an eye on these guys to see if there is more from them that I should seek out.

Warped Wing Brewing Story
Warped Wing is operated by four Co-Founders: Joe Waizmann, John Haggerty, Nick Bowman, and Mike Stover.

At Warped Wing we believe that our passion for craft beer brings a unique approach to the Dayton, O beer scene. We share enthusiasm for local community development and are committed to brewing well-crafted beers that Daytonians and Ohioans can embrace.

Warped Wing distinguishes itself through its brewing philosophy inspired by Dayton’s rich history of innovation and invention. WWBC is committed to bringing that same spirit forward into today’s American craft beer scene by introducing new proprietary beer styles and brewing their own “warped” interpretations of existing styles. Warped Wing also maintains a focus on creating unique seasonal and specialty beers.

The Warped Wing name is derived from one of Dayton’s famous inventions, “Wing Warping”, a technology invented by the Wright Bros which made controlled flight possible.
