Trumer Pils
consistently won gold medals in prestigious international beer competitions such
as the World Beer Cup, the European Beer Star and the Australian International
Beer Awards. It is brewed using the finest barley malt and hops from Germany and
Austria, giving the Pilsner a crisp bitter note. Like champagne, the quality of
a great Pilsner can be seen in the density of its bubbles. Trumer Pils produces
small, tight bubbles that rise from the bottom of the glass, delivering a
slightly spicy aroma, with a hint of citrus. This perfect balance of flavors is
achieved by procuring the exact blend of malt and hops and fermenting the brew
with proprietary yeast. Its body is accentuated by using pure, soft water and
removing the malt husk prior to the mashing process. The signature of Trumer
Pils is its finish. The crisp, clean and well-rounded taste leaves just a subtle
touch of soft bitter flavor on the back of the palate. However, because the husk
is removed before mashing, the finish won’t linger. ABV: 4.9. IBUs: 26 IBUs.
Beer Review By Beer Advocate
What a great beer. We got this on draft at my local bar and I must say, I was
impressed. It is incredible refreshing and has just the perfect amount of bite
to it.
The appearance is flawless. It has a great golden color to it that sits
underneath a crisp and frothy white head. Once the beer is drank, nice thin
lacing lines are all over the glass. It has a clarity like no other, a look that
shows the true quality of this pilsener.
The smell is light, with no overwhelmingly strong aromas. It has some noticeable
biscuit and cracker, with a touch of spicy hop.
A great drinking beer to say the least. It has a nice malty mouthfeel with a few
different bites. It has a great hop bite that comes first, its very balanced
with the malts. It also has a great carbonation and finish, this is truly a beer
you want after a hard days labor.
Great crisp mouthfeel with a clean flavor, this is a great pils.
History of Trumber Pils
Trumer Pils is an Austrian pilsner previously sold almost exclusively in the
Austrian federal state of Salzburg. It is characterized by hoppy bitterness,
high carbonation, and a light body. In 2004, Trumer Brauerei opened a brewery in
Berkeley, California, to reproduce for the American market the Trumer Pils it
has brewed for 400 years in Austria. Trumer Pils is thus now widely available in
the San Francisco Bay Area as well as Austria. Trumer Pils results from a
partnership of two family-owned companies: Privatbrauerei Josef Sigl and The
Gambrinus Company owned by Carlos Alvarez. Trumer Pils ships all ingredients
from Austria to its Berkeley brewery, using all "traditional" ingredients but
North American water from the high Sierras.
