Trout Hop Black IPA Brewed by Grand Teton Brewing

Trout Hop Black IPA Brewed by Grand Teton Brewing in Victor, Idaho

Trout Hop Black IPA is a spicy and bold American-Style India Black Ale, with notes of fresh pine needles and spruce tips. Brewed with Idaho 2-Row Brewers’ Malt and German specialty malts, this ale has a deep rich color and roasted finish but is not as thick as some malty brews. Kettle hopped and dry hopped with Pacific Northwest hops, the resulting bitterness is bold and intense, the aroma piney and zesty. The full body and dry finish create a refreshing winter ale, perfect for any crisp afternoon or cool evening. IBUs: 117. ABV: 8.5%.

Beer Review by Beer Advocate
Thick crown of tan lace sticks all over the glass. Close to full on black, an edge of brown is shown in the light. Big spicy resin hop nose with a toasty and faint roasty malt. A whole lot of depth and smoothness to this brew. Hops thrown down a solid bitterness but a bigger flavor that blankets the palate with mint, spice, tobacco and some citric rind. The 8.5% let's itself be know with some warmth and fruity esters. Maltiness provides a good backdrop for the flavors to bounce off of, again ... Toasty and roasty with some yeast on the side with a semi-sweet ending. Killer beer here, hops are just amped enough for my liking. A bit of a quaffer as well.
