SweetWater received this honor for its newest "Catch and Release" seasonal brew at the 2008 GABF. SweetWater Motorboat won the silver medal in the Extra Special Bitter category
The 2008 Great American Beer Festival featured more than 120 professional judges testing 2,902 beers from 432 breweries where they handed out 222 medals in 75 categories. Per the rules of the competition, judges only award gold, silver or bronze medals when there are excellent examples of the style of beer in the category

SweetWater Motorboat is produced from late August until the middle of October and is available in Atlanta and a few other select markets in the Southeast, so if you would like to get your hands on this award winner you will have to find it quickly!
Winners of GABF's Small Brewery of the Year in 2002 - SweetWater remains the first and only brewery east of the Mississippi to have won that award in the festival's 26 year history. SweetWater has participated in the GABF since the were founded in 1997 and the silver for Motorboat brings their overall medal count at this "Super Bowl of Brewing" to 9 separate awards.
