SWEETWATER 420 FEST ENCOURAGES GREEN
TRANSPORTATION THIS WEEKEND
Bike Valet for Cyclists, ATL Cruzers Shuttles from MARTA Make it
Easy Not to Drive |
|
|
ATLANTA – SweetWater 420 Fest encourages the use
of “green” transportation to arrive at Candler Park for the festival, April 17 &
18. As part of the festival’s mindful mission to respect the planet and
demonstrate an environmentally responsible event, SweetWater 420 is implementing
measures to make not driving an easy decision:
Bike Valet for Cyclists:
Cyclists can bike to the event and leave their rides in the safe hands of the
good folks from Atlanta Bike Coalition (a member-based bicycle advocacy
organization, whose mission is to make it safer and easier to bike in metro
Atlanta). Drop your bike off like you would your car at a schmancy restaurant,
and pick it up when you’re ready to go. Last year, the bike valet served over
400 cyclists. Camp Twin Lakes, The Scott Rigsby Foundation, and the Young
Survival Coalition are teaming up to sponsor the bike valet, and see it as a
tremendous opportunity to educate festival-goers about their respective
missions: On May 1, the Scott Rigsby Foundation will host its Alliance Ride
benefiting Georgia’s wounded warriors; the Young Survival Coalition will hold
its second annual Tour de Pink ride benefiting breast cancer research on October
16; Camp Twin Lakes will present its 5th annual Spin for Kids weekend on October
23 & 24.
Ride MARTA to the Candler Park Station; Walk or ATLCruzers Eco-Shuttle to the
Park:
SweetWater 420 Fest takes place in Candler Park, conveniently located near the
Candler Park MARTA station. Visit www.itsmarta.com to plan your route.
ATLCruzers, Atlanta’s new electric car shuttle company, is providing rides from
MARTA to the event. www.atlcruzers.com
If you are going to drive to the event remember this is in the Candler Park
neighborhood so parking will be very limited and primarily street parking when
available. SweetWater 420 Fest encourages everyone to drink responsibly and if
necessary, take advantage of our partnership with SafeRide.
For all Atlanta traffic and street closings please visit www.atlantapd.org.
SweetWater 420 Fest is a Happy Ending Productions Event.

Welcome back to the 6th Annual SweetWater 420 Fest
Special thanks to the Candler Park Neighborhood, CPNO, our sponsors, and YOU…our
patrons. We appreciate your continued support.
DATES & TIMES:
The 2010 festival will be held Saturday, April 17 from Noon to 10 p.m. and
Sunday, April 18 from 12:30 to 8 p.m.
ADMISSION:
Free admission for great live music, activities, food, and education about how
each and every one of us can be a part of the solution! Festival goers who are
21+ and with a valid ID can purchase a $5 wristband to responsibly enjoy beer.
Portion of Proceeds from wristband sales are donated to Candler Park
Neighborhood Organization.
What is the $5 fee for? This is an often asked question. A portion of proceeds
to go back to the neighborhood that hosts us and the remainder allows us to
cover our operating expenses. Without this we would not be able to have the
festival that you have come to know and love. Please help us to continue this
event by purchasing a wristband if you are 21+. Thank you for being a part of
the solution.
Why we don’t charge everyone? We want to remain a community festival. We would
rather not charge your Grandma or your niece and nephew that are under age and
just want to come see what we are about.
PLANET 420:
Planet 420 is proud to sponsor local, regional and national non-profits and
environmental organizations. Last year, festival goers visited over 15
organizations to learn numerous ways that they could take earth friendly
practices back to their community and homes.
Our great friends at Change of Atmosphere help to organize the exhibits and
forums for activism for Planet 420. Check back for a schedule of the 2010 planet
420 workshops.
Check out our video of Planet 420 and to learn how you can do your part to save
Mother Earth.
KIDS ACTIVITIES:
The SweetWater 420 Festival invites earth lovers of all ages to come out and
take part in the festivities. Check back for a schedule of kids’ activities.
MARTA:
In an effort to limit the impact the festival has on the neighborhood and to
fulfill Sweetwater 420 Fest’s environmental mission; festival organizers
encourage everyone to do their part and take MARTA. The festival is conveniently
located just two blocks from the Candler Park MARTA station. Please encourage
anyone you know that plans on attending the Sweetwater 420 Fest be earth
friendly and respectful of our neighbors in Candler Park.
COMMUNITY:
Since its inception six years ago, the Sweetwater 420 Fest, a two-day music and
arts festival located in Atlanta, Ga., has worked to better the Candler Park
Community by inspiring positive change and through ongoing community outreach.
We are calling for recycled art again this year. Please contact
info@sweetwater420fest.com if you are interested. Thank you to all those who
supplied art at last year’s 420 Fest.
Many thanks to all of our volunteers who worked last year’s event. We could not
have done it without you.
If anyone is interested in VOLUNTEERING for the 2010 festival, please click here
and fill the Volunteer form or contact info@sweetwater420fest.com for more
information.
We would like you to work 2 shifts over the weekend (approx 4 hours each). There
will be a free staff shirt, poster, and thank you party at the brewery (sometime
shortly after 420 fest). Invites and t-shirts will be handed out at the end of
your 2nd shift.
