Beer Review from Beer Advocate
Pretty good growler pour: dark brown with a decent white head.
Smells very mellow and sweet--not really zippy nor alcoholic, which
are the two nodes I look for most in a Doppel. Still, a nice malt
profile, even if it ain't too aggressive.
Tastes great. Sweet caramel runs parallel to zippy bock malt and
they both dovetail into a sweet, spicy finish of european hops and
lightly alcoholic yeast. Nodes of brown sugar and biscuit dough are
found throughout. Most importantly, it avoids the common d-bock
pitfalls of being too burny, too thick, or cloyingly sweet. This is
a big, strong, interesting beer that has absolutely no off nodes.
It's maybe just a tiny bit tame for the style, but it's still pretty
