If that don’t slide past your uvula, we are sure this will! Delicate rays of
citrus hop overtones transcend this easy drinking unfiltered wheat ale,
creating an exceptionally quaffable experience. This year round beer is line
priced with the rest of the Sweetwater's year round lip smackin lineup. ABV:
4.9% Gold Medal Winner at the 2011 Great American Beer Festival.
Beer Review by Beer Advocate:
Appearance- Pours a hazy pale straw color. One and a half finger white head
shows good retention. Nice ring and streaky lacing on the glass with each sip.
Smell- Wheat makes up the underbody to the aroma in this beer. The front of the
beer though has the added help of orange and lemon to help balance out all the
wheat aroma. Back of the beer has an interesting yeast aroma which I quite enjoy
along with light alcohol.
Taste- With the first sip of the beer I get a nice apricot and orange blend that
dominates over the wheat in the front. There is a light lemon hint but it only
really shows toward the ending of the front. Middle of the beer shows off the
wheat which kind of blands out the beer but balances it at the same time. Ending
of the beer show the wheat in the distance with a light cracker like taste to
it. Citrus and hints of ginger comes out as well. Lemon comes up on the final
part of the beer with hints of dry alcohol as well.
Mouthfeel- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the style. Light wheat,
orange, and lemon are left on the palate. Aftertaste is light dry alcohol, wheat
undertones, and hints of lemongrass, ginger, and orange. Flavors I felt were
well balanced for the style with nothing being over the top. No off flavors at
all when drinking this one. Medium light alcohol drying on the palate with this
beer.
Overall- I thought this beer was wonderful. It was a well made summertime
sipper. Nice job Sweetwater!
