Lucky Labrador Brews Beer In Dog's Honor
PORTLAND, Or - The dog credited with keeping three climbers warm until they could be rescued on Mount Hood is being honored once again, this time by beer brewed in her honor.
The Lucky Labrador Beer Hall is hosting a fundraiser to benefit the search and rescue organizations that helped save the lives of three climbers who fell more than 500 feet on Mount Hood. Portland Mountain Rescue, Corvallis Mountain Rescue, Eugene Mountain Rescue, Mount Wave Communications, AMR Crag Rats, and Mount Hood Ski Patrol will all benefit from the event. These groups need funding for equipment, training, transportation, and other vital components of their missions.
As a dedication to the dog, Velvet, who kept her human companions warm throughout a cold, stormy night at 7,400 feet, the Lucky Lab has brewed up Velvet Oatmeal Porter, a full bodied, bold ale with a nice blend of chocolate malt and rolled oats.
"It was a natural for us to honor the dog that helped the folks that were stranded on Mt. Hood," said Head Brewer Alex Stiles. The Lucky Lab will donate a portion of the sales of the beer to event.
The event is scheduled for March 29 at 6 p.m.
