Best Commercial Beers in America

Beer of the Week

Boulder , CO – Zymurgy, the journal of the American Homebrewers Association (AHA), announced the results of its annual reader survey of the “Best Commercial Beers in America.” The 2007 winner for the “Best Commercial Beer in America” is Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. Zymurgy has been conducting the annual survey for five years, inviting readers to send in a list of their twenty favorite commercially available beers in the U.S. More than 1,100 votes for 618 beers from 293 brewers around the world were received.
Upon hearing that 90 Minute won, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery founder and CEO Sam Calagione’s response was “Very cool!” His brewery’s 90 Minute IPA has been in production for eight years and has been making its way up in the readers’ poll for the last five years, finishing in a tie for 18th in 2003, a tie for third in 2004, and a tie for fourth in 2005.
Calagione attributed the success of 90 Minute to the “hardcore beer folk turning their friends on to it one pint or bottle at a time.”
Last year’s two top vote-getters didn’t even crack the top 25, showing the changing tastes and palates of Zymurgy readers as they discover even more choices and diversity among the available craft beers in America.
