Full Sail Amber Brewed by Full Sail Brewing in Hood River, Oregon
the grocery store cooler back before it turned into a kaleidoscopic fantasy
world of beer options? You pretty much had two choices: Regular or Light. In
1989, when we brewed our first batch of Full Sail Amber, not only was it the
first Amber ale here in Beervana (aka Oregon) -- it was the first craft beer
to go into a bottle. And two things became immediately apparent. It wasnít
Regular and it sure as heck wasnít Light. Our Amber is a sweet, malty,
medium-bodied ale with a spicy, floral hop finish. Itís brewed with 2-row
Pale, Crystal and Chocolate malts. And we hop it with Mt. Hoods and
Cascades. Weíre as proud of it today as we were back in í89. And over the
years itís earned 14 Gold Medals. Not that weíre keeping track or anything.

Beer Review by Beer Advocate:
Appearance: Dark reddish amber with a light tan lace.
Smell: Mild fruity esters, toasted malt and hints of fruity/citric hop.
Taste: Crisp and smooth with a moderately full mouthfeel. Lots of malt on the
palate with a pungent fruity alcoholic ester and spicy/citric hop character. Hop
bitterness is merely just enough with more flavour middle to end. Little bit of
fat chewy caramel malt with a drying chocolate which gives a cookie like malt
flavour. Finishes off with a drying grain, hop leaf and a touch of residual
Notes: A big and impressive Amber Ale ... All American Micro Style. One of the
best Amber Ales to come out of the PNW.
