Whole Hog 6-Hop IPA brewed by Stevens Point Brewery - Stevens Point, WI
It just wasn’t
enough to use a blend of 5 varieties of hops in our India Pale Ale. We
needed more. We needed to go wholehog! So, we added a sixth hop and created
a more pronounced hop nose and massive hop flavor for our American twist to
this legendary style. Whole Hog 6-Hop I.P.A. has a deep floral hop aroma
combined with notes of baked citrus. Clean maltiness supports a dominate
complex of six varieties of hops and creates a solid mouthfeel. This gives
way to a lingering finish of supple hop bitterness, tangy citrus fruit and
robust malt. This is a delicious adventure and brilliant tribute to the
historical I.P.A. Perfectly paired with grilled steak or chicken.
Beer Review from Beer Advocate
Aroma- Huge load of hop hits the nose but then has a huge yeasty character
following this. Citrus is big and malts are high. Sweetness and power are the
main attributes of this one!
Appearance- Pours a 1 finger head that stays for good time. Has a nice dark
orange colored body and leaves great lacing behind.
Flavor- Good variety of hops in here! Can tell there is a citrus character,
American hops, and tons of strength. A great amount of Belgian yeast/flavor is
present also! Medium-high bitterness.
Mouthfeel- Medium-Full Bodied, Low Carbonation, SMOOTH, a bit creamy, and leaves
light hops with sweetness behind.
Overall Impression- An extremely interesting 2XIPA! Not quite the punch like
many in this style but more Belgian qualities, flavorful, and creamy all the way
through! A nice brew and would recommend if you see it around! My second brew
from Steven's Point.

Steven Point Brewery History
The Stevens Point Brewery is steeped in a history that has transcended the
trials of the Civil War, the Great Depression and Prohibition. More than 150
years later, the Stevens Point Brewery continues to successfully brew quality
beer, just as the brewery’s founders, Frank Wahle and George Ruder, did in 1857.
This undeniable endurance is a testament of why the Stevens Point Brewery, in
Stevens Point, Wisconsin, is the 5th oldest continuously operating brewery
remaining in the United States. Today, the Stevens Point Brewery is proud to be
Wisconsin-owned and independently operated.
