Turbodog is brewed by
Abita Brewing Company - Abita Springs, Louisiana
is a dark brown ale brewed with Willamette hops and a combination of
pale, crystal and chocolate malts. This combination gives Turbodog
its rich body and color and a sweet chocolate toffee-like flavor.
Turbodog began as a specialty ale but has gained a huge loyal
following and has become one of our flagship brews.
This ale pairs well with most meats and is great served with
hamburgers or sausages. It is a good match with smoked fish and can
even stand up to wild game dishes. Turbodog is also great for
marinating and braising meats and cooking such things as cabbage and
greens. Colby, Gloucester, Cheddar and Blue cheeses go nicely with
Turbodog. It’s perfect with spicy Louisiana jambalaya or Spanish
paella. Some even like it paired with chocolate! ABV 5.6%, IBU 28
Beer Review from
Appearance: Dark brown with some amber hues, the lace is a sticky
light tan froth.
Smell: Sweetish toffee, hint of carob and a touch of ripe fruit.
Taste: Malty with a sturdy medium body, sweet toffee and mild
chocolate flavour, hop bitterness is perfect and there to balance. A
mild fruit and hop twang also hit the tongue. Faded sweet bready
grain is in the end.
Notes: A prize brown ale and a cult classic among the micro
drinkers. An exceptional example of the style.
Abita Brewing Company
Founded in 1986, the Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney
woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery
produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started.
Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now
our 100 seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to
keep up with demand.
We brew over 109,000 barrels of beer and 6,000 barrels of root beer
in our state of the art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are
brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers
with only the highest ideals of quality. This pride, along with our
brewing process, is what creates our great brews.
Abita uses only the finest ingredients – British and North American
malted barley, German and American yeast strains, Pacific Northwest
hops and the pure artesian water of Abita Springs.
In Abita, we are blessed with the purest of water. Drawn from our
deep wells, our pristine water is not altered in any way.
Abita Beer has no preservatives, additives or stabilizers and is
cold filtered. The result is beer that is the finest and freshest
tasting as proven by our loyal customers and great chefs of the
south who use Abita Beer in their recipes.
