Tommyknocker Brewery and Pub announces the special release of Hop Strike!
Black Rye-IPA, to be released June 4th and available for a limited time only.
The beer is being brewed in honor of Free the Hops organization, a grassroots
non-profit that just last year made it possible for beers above 6% ABV to be
distributed in Alabama.
"The beer's release co-insides with the one year anniversary of the passing of
the Gourmet Beer Bill, the Fourth Annual Magic City Brewfest, and the First
Annual Alabama Beer Week," says Steve Indrehus, head brewmaster at Tommyknocker,
"This brew is a tribute to all of Alabama's craft beer retailers and consumers
that have supported our small little mountain town brewery."
The beer will be available on draft for a limited time. The beer also marks the
first time Tommyknocker has ever designed a beer from the ground up for a single
cause.
"For a long time Alabama beer drinkers were not allowed to get some of the best
beers in the world due to their out of date beer laws, with the first year
anniversary of the Gourmet Beer Bill coming up, we decided we should brew a beer
that is prime example of what Alabama was missing out on all those years." Says
Steve.
The beer is described as "characterized by an intermingling of spicy citrus hops
and chocolate nose," and comes in at a hefty 7% ABV and 78 IBUs. It uses 4
different varieties of grains as well 5 different types of hops and is just one
of many great examples of craft beer that are now available across the state of
Alabama.
Tommyknocker hand crafted lagers are produced with the finest ingredients,
produced from the freshest beer possible strait from their brewery in Idaho
Springs, Colorado.
