Responders Ale brewed by 16 Mile Brewery - Georgetown, Delaware
Light on the palate
and crisp from start to finish, Responders Ale demonstrates the fundamental
importance of premium ingredients. Choice English barley, a touch of wheat and
mild bittering provide the foundation for this light-bodied beer whose story is
not light on fortitude. We honor and give thanks to our emergency responders. $3
from every case and $5 from every keg will be donated to the National Fallen
Fire Fighers Foundation. ABV: 4%.
Responders Ale was originally created for our local fire department's annual
fundraiser, this beer has since become a big part of our company. The same would
go for the men and women who put their lives on the line everyday to protect
each and everyone of us. 90% of all firefighters in Delaware are volunteer.
Delaware is the only state in the country with a state capital which is
protected by a volunteer fire department. We salute and give thanks to the men
and women of our local Police, EMS, and Volunteer Firefighters. For them its not
a job, it's a way of life.
The Brewery
Located just one mile south of The Circle in historic Georgetown, the 16 Mile
Brewing Company is located in a large open field. The building, which dates back
to the early 1900's, retains much of its original agricultural charm. We are
about to construct an addition to the brewery which will double its size and
production capability.
The brewing facility was designed to be as compact and energy-efficient as
possible. After extensive research, 16 Mile chose Newlands Systems Incorporated
(Abbottsford, B.C.) to engineer and construct a 15BBL brew house to fit the
existing structure. This system incorporates a low pressure, high-efficiency
steam boiler to limit energy usage.
