Raging Bitch Belgian-Style IPA brewed by Flying Dog Brewery - Frederick, Maryland  

Flying Dog's Raging Bitch is an American IPA fermented with Belgian yeast, is beautifully balanced between the Belgian fruity and citrus hop characteristics at the relatively high alcohol at 8.3% ABV. Raging Bitch comes on the heels of Flying Dog being honored as Mid Sized Brewing Company of the Year at this year’s Great American Beer Festival Flying Dog and after winning a string of medals and honors across Europe and Asia. This ale was originally brewed to celebrate the brewery's 20th Anniversary and is now available year round.

Appearance: Pours an amber color with hints of red. 1" white head with a few large bubbles hanging out at the top. Dissipates to a thin film with lacing down the glass.

Aroma: Initial floral hop aroma with a yeasty belgian backbone and finishing of citrus hops. Smells like a wheat beer and IPA mixed with an orange on top.
 

Taste: Mostly belgian up front, which is delicious.. finishes with a hop taste. The yeast / malt provide a strong belgian taste upon first sip. Nice hop aftertaste provides a clean finish and lingering aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Medium body. Appropriate carbonation for the style. Finishes crisp and leaves you wanting more.

Overall: Good beer, great name. Want to see more of this style across the board. Have been impressed with this brewery. Will never forget how this helped break the ice with the girlfriends mom by recommending it to her while out to dinner.

  
 
The Flying Dog Story
In 1983, a series of events in the Himalayas involving under prepared hikers, an unfaithful Sherpa, a scared-shitless donkey, and quickly consumed contraband led to the creation of the Flying Dog philosophy.

That's right, philosophy. It wasn't until 1990 that beer came into the picture.

From a brewpub in Aspen, Colorado to a full-fledged Denver brewery, and then to a state-of-the-art brewing facility in Frederick, Maryland, Flying Dog stands for not only extraordinary beer, but also for standing tall, doing great things, and not letting anyone make you eat shit.

For the past 20 years, we’ve done just that. We produce world-class craft beers and continue to push the envelope with experimental brews and limited-edition one-offs. All the while, we continuously pay homage to our Gonzo Godfathers – George Stranahan, Hunter S. Thompson, and Ralph Steadman.

Most importantly, we have a lot of fun doing it. And we never take ourselves too seriously.
