Innis & Gunn Rum Cask Oak Aged Scotch Ale brewed in Scotland

Innis & Gunn Rum Cask Oak Aged Scotch Ale brewed in Scotland

Rum Cask is fun, vibrant and spicy. Who would have thought that rum and beer would work so well?? It's our unique combination of specially brewed beer, rum and oak that just makes this beer sing! The sweet, spicy notes of Rum Cask make it an ideal accompaniment to game meals like venison or duck. It's sublime with strong, mature cheese when served with good-quality chutneys and relishes.

Beer Review by Beer Advocate
Appearance: Bronze/ ruby colored beer. Originally it had two fingers of white head but it dissolved rapidly and left no lacing.

Aroma: Vanilla, sweet malt and dried fruit. A fair amount of honey and molasses in here too. Smells fantastic!

Taste: Caramel malt, vanilla, raw honey and dates. In place of the fruity aroma there is some earthy and woody notes in here. Bitterness is low with hops tucked underneath a big bready and chewy malt backbone. Finish is sweet and savory. The aftertaste reminds me of homemade snickerdoodles.

Mouthfeel: On the hefty side of medium with moderate carbonation. Even though there is no alcohol warmth this brew is meant to be sipped and savored.

Overall: Great beer. This is my first time having this and I'm looking forward to getting more. If you're into sweet and savory beers this will do the trick. Cheers!

About Innis & Gunn:
Innis & Gunn was first established in 2003 as a joint venture with a leading drinks firm, who had approached Dougal Sharp, then head brewer at Caledonian, to create a beer that would lend the perfect finish to a Cask Ale Reserve whisky. The beer was too good to throw away so Innis & Gunn (the middle names of Dougal Sharp and his brother Neil) was formed. Dougal led an MBO in January 2008 and the business is now under private ownership.

Innis & Gunn has two core products in its range: Original and Rum Cask, as well as many award winning Limited Edition beers. Innis & Gunn is available in ten countries (UK, US, Canada, Sweden, Ireland, Switzerland, Denmark Finland, Norway and Australia) and in 17 states in the US: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Illinois and Nevada.
