16 Mile Harvest Ale brewed by 16 Mile Brewery - Georgetown, Delaware
Harvest Ale is a
Southern English Brown Ale which was voted best beer by regulars of 16 Mile
Brewery. This ale demonstrates the robust flavors of chocolate and coffee. Muddy
brown coloring and mild bittering provide a rich, smooth flavor profile; a
proper reward after the harvest is over. Rich in agricultural history, the
harvest is a critical part of life in Sussex County, Delaware, that spans the
entire year. This beer celebrates those who feed their communities.
Beer Review by Beer Advocate
LOOK: Sufficient sticky tan lacing, dark brown with garnet highlights
You've got to let this baby warm up a bit, like with nearly every beer it
reaches a peak. Right to spec for the style aside from it being bigger than the
more modern English Brown Ales ... not letting that get in the way. Very nice!
The Brewery
Located just one mile south of The Circle in historic Georgetown, the 16 Mile
Brewing Company is located in a large open field. The building, which dates back
to the early 1900's, retains much of its original agricultural charm. We are
about to construct an addition to the brewery which will double its size and
production capability.
The brewing facility was designed to be as compact and energy-efficient as
possible. After extensive research, 16 Mile chose Newlands Systems Incorporated
(Abbottsford, B.C.) to engineer and construct a 15BBL brew house to fit the
existing structure. This system incorporates a low pressure, high-efficiency
steam boiler to limit energy usage.
