Hop Hedge Experimental IPA brewed by Deschutes Brewery - Bend, Oregon
Hops, hops, and
more hops are what I taste while sitting here sipping from a snifter filled
with 10 ounces of Hop Henge goodness. This year, our brewers experimented
with large quantities of higher alpha acid hops and less malty sweetness and
"by golly"...they've pulled it off once again. If you're a fan of all things
hoppy, you will find yourself in a so-called "hop-topia," wondering why the
elixir in your glass did not last quite as long as you'd hoped. Hop Henge is
burnt orange in color with an immense hop aroma, flavor, and bitter finish.
Just like the monument for which it was named, this Experimenral IPA will
stand the test of time! Hop Lovers UNITE!

Review by Beer
Advocate So they tweaked the hops on this years version, I am glad they were able to
brew it again. Pours a dark orange amber color with a healthy crowning of off
white lace. Smells of blood oranges, hemp seeds, papaya and faint evergreen
which comes mostly from the hops. Clean bite in the breath of bitter hops and
slightly, but very clean, solvent alcohol. Smooth with a deep creamy malt body.
Hop bitterness pops but leave a few spots for the malt to come through. Slight
caramel and toasted biscuit maltiness pairs well with the fruity esters. Clean
warming alcohol throughout. Finishes hoppy and quite bitter but nothing that
destroys the taste buds.
Spot on for the style, what ever they tweaked it still stands comparable to the
previous version. Love the beer ... make it year round please.
Deschutes Brewery
Located in beautiful Bend, Oregon, Deschutes Brewery is in the business of
daring people to expect more from their beer. That's why we started off in 1988,
on the banks of the Deschutes River here in Bend, Oregon, by selling Black Butte
Porter at a time when others were sure a dark beer would never catch on. Our
brewers love to push the envelope, especially if it makes someone nervous. But
for us, the highest praise is a raised glass and a toast of "Bravely Done!" For
