Dayman Coffee IPA brewed by Stone, Two Brothers Brewing and Aleman

Stone Imperial Russian Stout brewed by Stone Brewing - Escondido, California

Jim Moorehouse, Nate Albrecht and Brad Zeller, three pals planning to open a Chicago brewpub under the moniker of Aleman, won first place at last year's Iron Brew homebrewing competition in the Windy City (judged by none other than Greg Koch, Jason Ebel of Two Brothers Brewing, and celebrated Chicago brewer, designer and author Randy Mosher). Their style-bending IPA artfully married the assertive tropical bite of Citra hops with amazing coffee flavor and aromatics to create something truly unique and exceptional.

Serendipitously, Two Brothers recently kicked off a new adventure roasting their own coffee beans, and provided just-in-time freshly roasted java for the brew. The result is an innovative IPA that's well balanced and intensely flavored thanks to the felicitous blend of hops and fresh roasted coffee.

Review by Beer Advocate
Appearance - Dark amber, almost red with a one finger white head. Very dark looking for an IPA, but wasn't really sure what to expect with this type.

Aroma - Lots of coffee right up front, with a little more coffee catching up the rear. A little bit of citrus in there. Very unique aroma.

Taste - Bitter coffee up front followed by hops and citrus. The coffee bitterness really compliments the overall bitterness of the IPA.

Mouthfeel - Medium body with decent carbonation. Leaves a pretty bitter after taste which isn't a problem for a hop head.

Overall - Although I'm not a big coffee drinker, this is pretty delicious. Im' sure a coffee drinker is going to go head over heels for this brew.

Stone Brewing Timeline:
• Stone Brewing Co. was founded in 1996 by Greg Koch and Steve Wagner in San Marcos, CA. (In the spot where our friends at Port Brewing Company/The Lost Abbey now call home!)
• First keg of Stone Pale Ale sold on July 26, 1996 to Vince Marsaglia of Pizza Port fame
• Arrogant Bastard Ale unleashed upon the world November 1, 1997
• Moved to our current facility in Escondido, CA, in December 2005
• Opened the adjacent Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens in November 2006
• Named "All-time Top Brewery on Planet Earth" by BeerAdvocate magazine in 2008…AND 2009! "The most popular and highest rated brewery – ever!"
• In December 2009, we published a formal Request For Proposal to evaluate potential sites for a brewhouse in Europe. We have narrowed the field from 79 different submitted locations (from nine different countries!) down to two—Berlin and Bruges—and hope to reach a final decision soon
• In May 2011, we unveiled huge local expansion plans, including Stone Company Store – South Park, Stone Farms, Stone Catering, Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station (Spring 2012), and Stone Hotel (Early 2013)
