Creature Comforts Wins Great American Beer Festival Award

Creature Comforts Takes Home the Bronze at the Great American Beer Festival

Creature Comforts Brewing located in Athens, Georgia might be brand new on the craft beer scene, but it's already winning awards. The brewery, which opened in April, took home a bronze medal at the Great American Beer Festival in Colorado in the American Style Brett Beer category for Curiosity No. 2, part of its one-off series of unusual or obscure styles.

No, Brett ales aren't named after a baseball player. They're brewed with a wild yeast called Brettanomyces that is most commonly used to ferment wine, but also sometimes added to traditional Belgian ales like lambics and saisons to impart a funky flavor.

Curiosity No. 2, according to the Creature Comforts website, is "a blonde American Brett beer refermented with kiwi and pineapple juice."
This ale is one of their specialty brews, so hurry down to the brewery and get yourself a pint.
