Bayern Doppelbock brewed by Bayern Brewing - Missoula, Montana

Bayern Doppelbock Brewed by Bayern Brewing - Missoula, Montana

"Doppel" means double and this beer is double in every way. Bayern Doppelbock became an instant legend when Bayern introduced it in Missoula in December of 1987. Unlike its top-fermenting counterparts, this hearty German dark lager does not have the rough bite of a porter or a stout.

Bayern Doppelbock is dark, smooth and has plenty of hops (Saaz & Hallertauer Perle) and malt. It has a starting gravity of >18 degrees Plato (7.8 - 8.4% ABV). Bayern Doppelbock is available in bottles and on draft from November through February, just in time for the holidays and the coldest months. Please enjoy this festive beer in moderation and leave your car at home if you are planning to celebrate with Doppelbock.

Beer Review from Beer Advocate
Appearance: This beer has a very dark brown look with a slight ruby tint in the light. The head is mostly non-existent except the thin layer around the edge touching the glass.

Aroma: Very nice maltiness...dark fruits (plums, black cherries), and a dark chocolate dimension as well.

Taste: The taste is strong, the abv on this page should be a range up to maybe 12% after examining descriptions of this beer. A flavor of a heavy bread, with a slight bit of spice comes on at first followed by a tinge of alcohol that warms you right up.

Mouthfeel: It is a full beer that has a good thickness, which is slightly creamy it ends with a nice alcohol warmth.

Overall: Overall the beer is definitely worth the purchase. In value you can't get much better than this with the flavor and quality I definitely recommend this beer as being top notch.
