Alaskan Brewing Co’s limited release Barley Wine is returning in time for
craft beer fans to celebrate the New Year in Alaskan style. A big beer for
big Alaska winters, this award-winning brew is ideal for sharing with
friends in a toast to the year to come.
The bottling of each vintage of Alaskan Barley Wine also allows individuals
to age it to their liking. “Those that prefer a big, fresh and dynamic
barley wine can enjoy it right away,” says Quality Assurance Analyst Darin
Jensen. “This is also a great cellaring beer that will gain deeper malt
complexity and smoothness over time – a great one to collect for vertical
tastings.”
The balanced collaboration between hops, malt and alcohol in this beer
showcase the barley wine style, earning Alaskan Barley Wine top honors at
the West Coast’s premier Barley Wine competitions – Toronado (2007) and Hard
Liver (2009) - and Bronze at the 2008 and 2010 World Beer Cups for both
fresh and aged vintages.
This year, the Alaskan Brew Crew will be enjoying their Barley Wine in
celebration of not only the New Year, but also the start of their 25th year
in operation. While the first bottles of Alaskan Amber released in December
1986, the Brewery will be celebrating their 25 years of brewing Alaskan with
special events throughout 2011, including the limited release of an
Anniversary ale in the fall.
The 2010 vintage of Alaskan Barley Wine will be available in January in
select retail locations in Alaska, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada and
Washington. Those who live outside these areas can learn about where to find
it online at www.alaskanbeer.com/our-brew/find-our-beer.html.
